Bangladesh have improved a lot - Younis Khan
Since the end of the World Cup, Pakistan are the only one among the four Asian Test nations to have a record to be proud of. India had their disasters in England and Australia, Sri Lanka haven't won a series of note in a year, and Bangladesh faced the ignominy of losing to Zimbabwe. Pakistan, meanwhile, were winning nearly everything they played. click

No room for error in short series
Had Shakib Al Hasan been playing for some of the bigger Test sides, he would have been given a lot more respect than he gets at present. He averages 54.50 with the bat and 22.29 with the ball in ODI wins. He carries the expectations of Bangladesh fans lightly and, more often than not, puts in a telling contribution. He was Man of the Match in the hosts' wins over India and Sri Lanka and would have got the award against Pakistan had the Bangladesh lower order not collapsed around him. The hosts have found Nasir Hossain, but for the moment, as Shakib goes, so do Bangladesh.
Umar Gul helped Pakistan avoid defeat against Bangladesh with a three-wicket burst that included the wickets of Nasir and Shakib. One new ball or two, Gul has found reverse swing. When asked how he was getting such movement with a lush green outfield in Mirpur, he pointed to the dry-looking square. Bangladesh were able to survive the threat of Lasith Malinga on Tuesday. Gul will come hard at them tomorrow, especially after going for runs against India.

Afridi involved in scuffle at airport.
Shahid Afridi, the Pakistan allrounder, has been involved in a scuffle with a member of the public at Karachi airport. Afridi was returning from Dhaka, where Pakistan had won the Asia Cup, and lost his temper after being mobbed by fans on his arrival.
Television footage showed Afridi, wearing a red t-shirt, walking towards his car while being surrounded by fans taking pictures and wanting autographs. After a point Afridi, visibly angry, lost his temper and threw a few punches at some people. His brother, Mushtaq, intervened and prevented the situation from getting worse.
Afridi later said he did not want to hurt anyone but had lost his temper when his three-year old daughter was caught in the middle of the crowd. "There was no security for players and it's usual that fans come and seek autographs," Afridi said. "But this time they were out of control and hurt my daughter, on which I lost my temper."

IPL Watcher - Still no Tamim?
When Pune Warriors play, you can be sure much of the feedback ESPNcricinfo receives is to do with Tamim Iqbal. Warriors have now played 15 games in the tournament, used six openers and won only four matches. The batting has not clicked and they have failed to chase down very gettable targets on occasion.
Mohnish Mishra, Michael Clarke, Sourav Ganguly, Robin Uthappa, Jesse Ryder and Manish Pandey have been Warriors' openers, in various combinations, till now. While Ganguly and Clarke have, expectedly, struggled to score at pace, Jesse Ryder has backed up two half-centuries with seven single-digit scores. Robin Uthappa has been the team’s leading run-scorer, but even his runs have come at a rather lethargic strike-rate of 118.50.
Yet the big-hitting Tamim, who produced scores of 64, 70, 59 and 60 in the last international tournament he played, the Asia Cup, has not got a game. Not even one that is of no consequence to his team.
A Bangladesh boy, Tamim has the benefit of being familiar with the conditions, and could even fit into any plan – if any – the team has to play a right hand-left hand combination at the top of the order. All that, plus a struggling team, surely means it’s worth giving Tamim a go? Maybe Warriors' last league game, against Kolkata Knight Riders on Saturday, will be the day.
